Looking for the grave of Griffith (died 15 January 1874) & his wife Jane Morgan (died 07 April 1877). I have copies of a letter dated (Feb the 7th, 1877) from Jane Morgan and from Jane Horner her daughter (dated April llth, 1877), the latter telling of her mother's death. Both letters have the name Monterey, just next to the date. I presume this means the letters came from Monterey, Pulaski County or Monterey Villiage, Hamilton County. I know they lived in Indiana, but always thought they lived in Kosciusko County. Jane Morgan's son, John Morgan (died 01 May 1877) appears to have died there as well. Would sure appreciate any help.

Michael K. Smith 28 Jul 1997
Nibly southwest Cork). Family tradition says that he immigrated through New Orleans about 1840, possibly with an older brother named Daniel, and went north to work on the railroad in Indiana. However, he does not appear on *any* surviving passenger list. Johannah HAYES (b. c1842 in Ireland, probably Cork or Kerry) arrived at Boston in August 1853 with her mother (Ellen HAYES, a nurse). She m. Morgan 22 Oct 1858 Lafayette, IN. They lived in Pulaski Co, IN until c1890 and had 12 children (about whom a great deal is known). They are believed to have been naturalized but no record has yet been found. Morgan worked for the Monon Railroad for many years and died on the job, away from home. There is a parish record in Attica, Indiana (which is located on the Monon route) indicating that "Michael Cronin," age 65, died and was buried there, 17 Feb 1887. This is the only CRONIN listing in any Fountain County record, ever; could this be Morgan? After her husband's death, Johannah moved the family to Indianapolis. She died there 1891 and was buried at Holy Cross. This line evidently is *not* connected to the CRONIN family of Perry Co, IN, who were pre-Revolutionary immigrants. Any further information or documentation on this family would be very welcome.
