AULT #2619 Mother: Julianna YOHE #2621
Reference #1, "Citizens Cemetery," gives only the name and approximate birth year of this daughter of John F. and Susan AULT. After considering data collected on other AULT families in the Rochester area during the mid 1800s, compiler found no other "Rebecca A. AULT." Therefore, the assumption has been made, until future evidence proves otherwise, that this is the Rebecca or Rebecca A. AULT named in the two marriage records.
"Rochester Sentinel" 04 Jan 1862-11 Jan 1865
"MARRIED: On Thursday December 18th, 1862, by the Rev. N.L. Lord at the residence of the brides father, Mr. Joseph Ault and Miss Rebecca Ault, all of Fulton County. We extend to the happy pair our congratulations. May their days be many and their troubles few. "
Joseph may have been a descendent of Frederick AULT, another son of Philip AULT and a brother to Rebecca's father, John F. AULT. The Belmont History states that Frederick migrated to Fulton Co. also.
N.L.Lord is the minister who performed the marriages of Thomas and Phoebe GILCHRIST and Jennet and Christopher CAMPBELL.

Information given on this son of John AULT, Sr. in the excerpts from p 135 of "Citizens Cemetery," removed doubts from compiler's mind as to this being the father of John AULT, husband of Mary A. GILCHRIST. Per the cemetery enumeration, Joseph A. was born in OHIO and was the son of Susan, John AULT's first wife.
The "Citizens Cemetery" excerpt reads as follows:
"(Note: Joseph AULT, son of John & Susan AULT of Rochester twp, m. (first) Nancy E. "Ellen" LUCAS, 28 May 1868 and resided in Union twp with a son, John, b. Sept. 1869 (Fulton Co., IN, M.R.; Census 1870).
Joseph (A.) AULT m. next, 30 Apr. 1876, Martha E. CROMER, and they resided in Rochester city in 1880, with their son John (mentioned above), and worked in a livery stable. (Fulton Co., IN, M.R.; Census 1880.)
The reference above makes no mention of Joseph AULT having another son; however, the obituary for his son John AULT states that John's "brother, Clyde AULT, survives." Clyde was married in 1911, so he was probably the son of Joseph and his second wife, Martha (CROMER), and a half-brother to compiler's great uncle, John AULT.
Joseph A. AULT, wife Martha and a son, John, were enumerated in the town of Rochester in 1880. Joseph was reported as 32 years old. He was born in OHIO and both his parents born in PA. Martha was 25, born in INDIANA; Martha's father was born in GERMANY, her mother in INDIANA. John was 10.
Compiler found Joseph and Martha E. AULT on the 1920 census in Rochester Township,
Fulton County. Joseph's age was given there as "71." His place of birth was unreadable on the microfilm, but his parents' places of birth were both given as "PENNSYLVANIA."

The 1850 census for Fulton Co., IN shows a 20 yr. old Adam MOW living in the home of David MOW, Jr., whose age is given as 22. The place of birth for both Adam and David is IN. David, Jr.'s wife, Eleanor HOLDSTOCK, and two small sons are also enumerated in this home, as is "Samuel", 59 yr. old and born in KY. Just 4 houses away there is a David MOW, Sr. (51), born in KY., also a James MOW (16) born in OHIO. Next door is another home consisting of William MOW, born OHIO, and his wife Caroline (20), born in NY.

This obituary makes no mention of Anna Eliza's first marriage. Per Mrs. FOLTZ, she first married Robert Daggett in Sept. of 1871. This would have been when Anna was about 20 years old as mentioned in the obit. Robert died in 1881 and Anna married again to Charles Lawson in March 1882. two years earlier. In data supplied by Mrs. FOLTZ and Ms. WILLIAMS, Charles Lawson died in South Bend two years after Anna. It would appear that they were not living together at the time of her death. Charles is also buried at Richland Center.

Since Adam later named a son David Bruce, compiler first assumed that David, Jr. and Adam were brothers and their father was David, Sr. who was enumerated in his own household. Margarett STICHLER STEININGER, grand daughter of David Bruce, wrote compiler that the "Samuel" shown in David, Jr.'s home was the father of the two young men. She and Wilma FOLTZ have reason to believe that the two men had the same father, but different mothers.
This has not been documented.
David MOW, Jr., the husband of Eleanor HOLDSTOCK, served in Co. F of the 87th Reg., Indiana Infantry Volunteers during the Civil War. He was discharged with total disability on Dec., 1862. Military Pension File records do not identify his parents or any relatives other than his children who applied for their "Minor Children's Benefits" long after the death of their father.
Adam MOW's obituary states that he had married Harriet WALKER in MAR, 1850; (Marriage Records states 16 MAR 1851) the 1850 census showing Adam in his "half-brother's" home was conducted in October, 1850. On that census, there is a place for "Married within the year"; there is no tally by Adam's name to indicate that he had married. William MOW in household #41, however, reports that he had married in that census year. Compiler is still somewhat uncertain of the identity of Adam MOW's father.
