IN Cemetery: IOOF in: Richland Center (Fulton) IN Other: in: Military: Occupation: Farmer/Teacher Father: Marion Lee Walker MOW #226 Mother: Eva Lanora CLARK #227
There has been considerable confusion in verifying data on this son of Marion MOW. The 1900 census extracted by compiler, lists Clarence L. as the oldest of the MOW sons. His birth month is given as "NOV" and year as "1883"; his age is given as 16 in June 1900. His tombstone shows his birth year as 1883. Wilma MOW FOLTZ, his niece, gives his birth date as 10 NOV 1885. (Census gives 1885 as the birth year of Wilma's father, Clayton).
In February, 1992, Rosemary WILLIAMS, at that time an employee of the Fulton Co. Health Dep't in Rochester, IN and a genealogical researcher, sent compiler a list of marriages and deaths she had found in the Marshall County Library Newspaper Excerpt Files.
One of these was taken from the "Weekly Republican" from 1921. "9 June 1921 Clarence Mow killed (accident) at Argos".
In 1995, Wilma FOLTZ sent compiler a large collection of vita on the MOW family; among these files was Wilma's handwritten note that Clarence died June 5, 1922. She also sent a photocopy of a typewritten transcription of a newspaper article. The newspaper name or date was not given. It does say that Clarence was taken to "Woodlawn Hospital"; this is located in Rochester. It also states that the accident occurred on the banks of the Tippecanoe River. This river does not flow through Argos. Clarence's age at the time of the accident is given as "36"; if his tombstone
dates are accurate (1883-1921), he would have been 37 at the time of death.(1921)
Also included in the MOW collection is a photocopy of the obituary for Clarence's wife in 1943. This obituary states that her former husband," Mr. MOW, passed away on June 5th, 1922."
Per the 1920 census enumeration, Clarence's father, Marion L. MOW, and his brother, Clyde C. MOW, were both enumerated in Clarence's household on 02 Jan. 1920. Marion was 60 years of age, Clyde C. was 31. Marion was classified as "widowed." Eva (CLARK) MOW died in March, 1918; Marion may have been living with his son and daughter-in-law in 1920.
============================================================================ Wife: Edna Fern BEEHLER #229 Married: 20 JUN 1908 in: Fulton County, IN Marr. Ceremony? Y/N: Divorced/Annulled/Separated: End Year: ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- Born: 27 AUG 1889 in: Richland Township (Fulton) IN Church: METHODIST in: Died: 11 DEC 1943 in: Cemetery: IOOF in: Richland Center (Fulton) IN Other: in: Military: Occupation: Father: William BEEHLER #784 Mother: Christena Jane COPLEN #783
Edna is buried beside her first husband, Clarence Mow, at the Richland Center Cemetery. The dates given on Clarence's stone are "1883-1921". The 1922 date given in the obituary is probably an error. Beside the Mow's is the grave of their son, Ferman E. Mow, who was killed in an automobile accident in 1929.

Compiler's note: The obituary states that he was born June 15, 1920, but the cemetery shows the years of his life as "1929-1961." Calculation, using the age (31) and date of death (March 1961) would make the cemetery inscription the correct one.
"Tiny" was the only known male child born to Herman and Rose Ault, so the missing part of the obit. was probably sisters: Erma Dean Hosimer, Pauline Russell, Olive McVey and Margaret Hittle. A fifth sister, Anna Mae Wilfert died in 1948.
March, 1996: Compiler received obituaries for Christina L. AULT, a daughter of Tiny's son, John, from Wilma FOLTZ. One of these from The "Rochester Sentinel" names her paternal grandmother "Corriene MECHLING." Considering Tiny's age at the time he married Fay SLATER, compiler began to suspect there had ben an earlier marriage. From his obituary, the information that his children all resided in Plymouth at the time of his death made this more evident. Compiler has assumed that Tiny was first married to Corriene (maiden name unknown), and this couple had three children. Later, Tiny married Fay SLATER and Corriene married a Mr. MECHLING.
Children from the marriage with Corriene are:
