KINGSLEY born Oct 1879 in Harrison Co., IN and died 14 Aug 1942 in Harrison Co., IN. She was the daughter of William A. KINGSLEY and Lucy Ellen ANDERSON and the sister of Joseph A. KINGSLEY. Charlie and Annie rest in Kings Cemetery, Laconia, Harrison Co., IN. No known children were born of this union.

2) Mittie Ellen DODD 1881-1957. She married Joseph Anderson KINGSLEY.

3) George Joseph DODD was born 6 Oct 1891 in Harrison Co., IN and died 22 Jan 1923 in Logan Co., IL. He married Mary E. "Bessie" ROBSON on 3 Jul 1918 in Harrison Co., IN. George died in a hunting accident in Latham, Logan Co., IL. They lived in Lincoln, Logan Co., IL with Joseph and Mittie [DODD] KINGSLEY. George was taken back to IN by his brother-in-law, Joseph KINGSLEY, and buried near his parents and siblings in Kings Cemetery, Laconia, Harrison Co., IN.

Joseph KINGSLEY was born 21 Oct 1872 in Harrison County, IN and died 15 Aug 1937 in Harrison County, IN. He rests beside his wife, Mittie DODD, in Kings Cemetery, Laconia, Harrison Co., IN. He was the son of William Anthony KINGSLEY and Lucy Ellen ANDERSON; and grandson of Simeon KINGSLEY and Elizabeth BRANDENBURG; and Joseph ANDERSON and Elizabeth DODDS.

His siblings were: Jessie A.[MOSS] 1871-1893; Annie L. [DODD] 1879-1942; Thomas 1878; and Nellie R. 1887-1890.

He married Mittie Ellen DODD on 3 Nov 1898 in Harrison County, IN. She was born 26 Sept 1881 in Harrison County, IN and died 16 Dec 1957 in Harrison County, IN. She was the daughter of Joseph DODD and Lucy LUNSFORD and sister to Charlie W. DODD and George J. DODD. She rests next to Joseph in Kings Cemetery, Laconia, IN.

7) Sidney R. 1914 - 1993. Married Claribel SCHNIDER.
8) Dorothy L. 1916-1921. Died in Infancy.
9) Neva L. [CROSIER] 1918-2001. Married Eldon CROSIER.
10) Leila A. [SHIELDS] 1921 - Present. Married Gerald SHIELDS.

Joseph and Mittie passed on their love of music to their children. The family played at many picnics and gatherings. Joseph was said to be quite a fiddle player. He was a member of the "Tom Kingsley Band". The fiddle and banjo are still in the KINGSLEY Family.

Living with him are: Mittie, wife, Sept 1881, 18; and Nellie L., daughter, Oct 1899, 8 mo. Living next door are Mittie's parents and brothers: Joseph DODD, Mar 1843, 51; Lucy [LUNSFORD] wife, Oct 1853, 46; Charles W., son, Feb 1878, 22; and George J., son, Oct 1891, 48.

1910 IL Census, Mt. Pulaski Twp, Logan County, IL: Joseph KINGSLEY, 36; Living with him are: Mittie, wife, 28; Nellie L., daughter, 10; Charley, son, 8; Walter, son, 7; and Frank, son, 5.

1920 IL Census, West Lincoln Twp, Logan County, IL, KINGSLEY was spelled "Kingles" on this census. Joseph KINGSLEY, 47; Living with him are: Mittie, wife, 38; Nellie L., daughter, 20; Charley, son, 18; Walter, son, 17; Frank, son, 15, Dolly, daughter, 9; Elsie, daughter, 7; Sidney, son, 5; Dorothy, daughter, and 3; Neva, daughter, 1. Also on the 1920 IL Census, West Lincoln Twp, Logan Co., IL the SAMPSON family lived in the same neighborhood. Walter and Frank KINGSLEY married Hazel and Pearl SAMPSON. The SAMPSON household is as follows: Charles SAMPSON, 46, Chicken Picker, Produce Co., as his profession/trade; Bessie, 36, wife; Roy, 20, son; Jesse, 17, son; Elmer, 16, son; Hazel, 13, daughter; Pearl, 12, daughter; and Raymond, 9, son.

William A. KINGSLEY was born 13 Nov 1844 in Harrison County, IN and died 18 Nov 1905, in Harrison County, IN. He rests beside his wife and daughter in the Kings Cemetery, Laconia, Harrison County, IN. He was the son of Simeon KINGSLEY and Elizabeth BRANDENBURG.

His siblings were: Simeon 1834-1902; Absolom A. 1835-1904; David R.1836-1902; Thomas F. 1837-1927; Minerva H. [CROSIER] 1838-1921; Jonathan C. 1839-1891; Susanna [MCINTIRE] 1841-1896; Henry C. 1841-?; Sarah M.[RIDLEY] 1843-1900; Margaret M. [STEEPLETON] 1845-?; John C. 1847-?; Alexander 1849-?; Allen 1849-1916; and Eliza E. [BYRUM] 1854-1896.

CIVIL WAR: He served with the 59th Regiment Indiana Infantry from 5 Dec 1861 until 17 Jul 1865. He was promoted to Corporal on 1 Jun 1865.

He married Lucy Ellen ANDERSON on 21 May 1870 in Harrison County, IN. She was born 20 Mar 1848 in Harrison County, IN and died 18 Jan 1890 in Harrison County, IN. She was the daughter of Joseph ANDERSON and Elizabeth DODDS. Lucy died of Meningitis 2 days before her daughter, Nellie, died of the same affliction. She rests next to her husband William Anthony Kingsley, in Kings Cemetery, Laconia, Harrison Co., IN.

To this union was born the following children:

1) Jessie A. KINGSLEY b. 27 May 1871; d. 27 Jun 1893. Married on 4 Mar 1891 to Louise MOSS 12 Dec 1869-27 May 1893. They both rest in Kings Cemetery, Laconia, Harrison Co., IN.

2) Joseph A. KINGSLEY b. 21 Oct 1872; d. 15 Aug 1937. Married on 3 Nov 1898 to Mittie Ellen DODD 26 Sep 1881-16 Dec 1957.

3) Thomas KINGSLEY b. 1878 -? As shown on the 1880 IN Census. Died before 1905.

4) Annie L. KINGSLEY b. Oct 1879; d. 14 Aug 1942. Married 1) Albert HUTCHINSON; 2) Charlie W. DODD b. Feb 1878; d. 26 May 1952. There were no children born to either marriage. Charlie is the son of Joseph DODD & Lucy LUNSFORD. He is the brother to Mittie [DODD] KINGSLEY and George J. DODD. Annie and Charlie rest beside each other, near Joseph and Mittie [DODD] KINGSLEY, in Kings Cemetery in Laconia, Harrison Co., IN.

5) Nellie R. KINGSLEY b. 11 Jan 1887; d. 27 Jan 1890. Died of Spiral Meningitis. She rests in the grave with her mother, Lucy, who died 2 days earlier, also of Meningitis, in Kings Cemetery, Laconia, Harrison Co., IN.

JOSEPH M. ANDERSON and ELIZABETH DODDS, HARRISON COUNTY, INDIANA

Joseph M. ANDERSON and Elizabeth DODDS are my 3rd Great Grandparents. Their daughter Lucy Ellen ANDERSON and William A. KINGSLEY are my 2nd Great Grandparents [See William KINGSLEY's BIO]. My ancestors settled in the Laconia, Boone Twp, Harrison Co., IN. Some of my surnames are ANDERSON, BRANDENBURG, CROSIER, DODD & DODDS, DOUGLAS, KINGSLEY AND RIDLEY. The below information was put together from various sources.

Joseph ANDERSON was born 28 June 1814 in KY. He was the son of John ANDERSON and Rachel JACK. He was appointed Postmaster at Laconia, Harrison Co., IN on 19 Sept 1855 following the death of his son, John Wesley ANDERSON, who was at the time of his death serving as Postmaster. In turn, Joseph served seven and one-half years as Postmaster until his death on 11 Feb 1873. He is buried with his second wife, Elizabeth DODDS in the Beswick Cemetery on the Radmaker Farm, one-half mile east of Laconia, Harrison Co., IN. The cemetery has been destroyed and there are no longer any signs that one ever existed. There is a Memorial marker for them in the "DODDS" section of the King's Cemetery/Burying Ground located south of Laconia, Harrison Co., IN. It is located next to Rebecca and Anthony DODDS headstones, who are Elizabeth's parents.

On 28 October 1835, in Nelson Co., KY Joseph married Belinda McDANIEL, daughter of Joseph McDANIEL and Mary TEMPLE. Belinda was born on 3 Aug 1819 in Nelson Co., KY and died about 1843.

Joseph and Belinda ANDERSON had the following known children:

1. John Wesley ANDERSON was born 18 Jul 1836 and died 13 Aug. in Harrison Co., IN. He is buried in the Beswick Cemetery, Laconia, Harrison Co., IN. Two of his children, Belinda A. and Austin K. ANDERSON, are also buried there. He married Louisa A. KISTLER.

2. Mary J. ANDERSON was born 12 December 1837 and died 18 Jan 1862. She is buried in Beswick Cemetery, Laconia, Harrison Co., IN. It is believed she never married.

3. Rachel S. ANDERSON was born 2 May 1839 and died 8 Aug 1865. She is buried in the Beswick Cemetery, Laconia, Harrison Co., IN. She married James Madison NEELY on 8 Nov 1859 in Harrison Co., IN. He was born 28 Oct 1836 in TN and died 13 Jul 1863. He is also buried in Beswick Cemetery.

4. Laura Martha ANDERSON was born 4 Apr 1841 in Harrison, Co., IN. On 19 Apr 1860 she married Austin KISTLER, son of Jacob and Mary E. KISTLER. He was born 21 May 1839 in Marion, OH. He died @ 1922 in Harrison Co., IN.

5. Elizabeth ANDERSON, was born 5 Apr 1843 in Harrison Co., IN and died 28 Nov 1905, in Kansas City, Jackson Co., MO. On 21 Oct 1866 she married Nathan ZIMMERMAN, son of John and Eveline ZIMMERMAN. He was born 11 Oct 1841 in Harrison Co., IN and died 16 Jun 1918 in Overland Park, Johnson Co., KS.

Joseph married for the second time on 25 Nov 1844 to Elizabeth DODDS, the daughter of Adam Douglas DODDS and his wife, Rebecca FRENCH. She was born 21 Oct 1822 and died 21 Dec 1876.

Joseph and Elizabeth ANDERSON had the following known children:

1. Rebecca ANDERSON was born 20 Jul 1845 in Harrison Co., IN and died Aug 1919 in Belleville, St Clair Co., IL. She is buried in Walnut Hill Cemetery. On 27 Sept 1865 in Laconia, Harrison Co., IN she married William Thomas MARSH, the son of Col William MARSH and Sarah ARMSTRONG of Laconia, IN. William was born in 1838 in Harrison Co., IN and died 1899 in Leavenworth, IN. He is buried in the Marsh Lot of Cedar Hill Cemetery at Leavenworth., IN.

2. Lucy Ellen ANDERSON was born 20 Mar 1848 in Harrison Co., IN and died 18 Jan 1890. She married CPL WILLIAM ANTHONY KINGSLEY, Co. K, 59th Indiana Vol., Civil War. William was the son of Simeon KINGSLEY and Elizabeth BRANDENBURG. He was born 12 Nov 1844 and died 18 Nov 1905. Both are buried in Kings Cemetery/Burying Ground, south of Laconia, Harrison County, IN.

3. Adam Dodd ANDERSON was born 29 Oct 1849 and died 1913. He married first to Elizabeth WARREN, daughter of William L. WARREN. He married second to Mary BAUMAN [1858-1925] both Adam and Mary BAUMAN ANDERSON are buried at St. Michael's Catholic Church, Dogwood, Harrison County, IN. Adam D. ANDERSON was appointed Postmaster, 4 Apr 1904 at Laconia and served until 11 Nov 1907 when his son, Frank C. ANDERSON was appointed.

4. Margaret ANDERSON was born 10 Mar 1851 and died March 11, 1851.

5. Belinda Ann ANDERSON was born 22 Feb 1852 in Harrison Co., IN and died 10 Feb 1926 at her home in Laconia, Harrison Co., IN. On 31 Mar 1874 she married John Thomas ASHTON who had come to Laconia from Windsor, England to make his home with his aunt, Mrs. Thomas [Ann] PATTINSON. John Thomas ASHTON was the son of John ASHTON and his wife, Mary Ann LEONARD. He was born August 29, 1849 in Portsmouth, England; and died 3 Aug 1912 in his home in Laconia, Harrison Co., IN.
