Ms. TAUNTON's extraction from the 1850 Census records the following children in David A. and Sarah (STRAUP) McKEE's household:

       W. A. [male] 9 INDIANA
       Mary A. 3 "
       David __(?) 1 "
       STROUSS, Reubin 12 "

She includes, "David McKEE owned real estate valued at $100..."
From the line numberings on this extraction, it appears that David and his family resided on one side of his father, Anthony W. McKEE, and David's brother, Albert Russell and his family lived on the other.
October, 1995: Wilma (MOW) FOLTZ sent a photocopy of the 3 page record of the McKEE CEMETERY, an abandoned cemetery located in the back of a field on the "Old Alonzo Sheets (now Joseph Richards) farm, R.R.3, in Rochester Twp, Fulton Co., IN. It is on 250 North, about one and three-tenths miles west of 250 N & 400 W...about 1-1/2 mi. west of Loyal..."
This cemetery had been recorded in a 1935 publication by the DAR, but at that time only about 4 graves were recorded. In October, 1975, the recent recording was conducted. Re David McKEE, the following appears on p 53:
"(----), -------.
Note: All that remains of this marker is the top section, with a 5-6 inch millstone carved in it. It might be the missing top to the David A. McKee grave marker. Census records indicate that he was a miller...(1) "David A. McKEE" b. 1816 OH, identified as a "miller" in 1860 census, m (by 1841) Sarah A., and it was this family, with whom Reubin Stroup resided in 1850...
(----),--------- 56yr-3mo-(21?)da.
(Note: The lower half of the stone is all that remains. Manitou Chapter D.A.R., "Genealogical Survey, Fulton County, Indiana "Cemeteries," 1935, reveals that David A. McKEE died Feb. 20, 1873, age 56yr-3mo-25da. This must be his stone. He resided in city of Rochester 1860, in Newc." (Newcastle) "twp in 1870, and his widow was living in Bloomingburg, Newc. twp in 1880.)" (There follows a lengthy passage re Reubin STROUP and his parents, etc.)

Ms. TAUNTON did not include documentation to support the marriage of Sarah A. STRAUP and David A. McKEE.
The 1850 Census as recorded by Ms.TAUNTON states that the following children were enumerated in the household of Sarah and David McKEE in Rochester Twp.:

       W.A. [male] 9 INDIANA
       Mary A. 3 "
       David __(?) 1 "
       STROUSS, Reubin 12 INDIANA

October, 1995, compiler recieved a photocopy of a two and one-half page record of the McKEE Cemetery in Rochester Township, Fulton Co., IN. In that reprint were found the stone inscriptions for the graves of Anthony, Nancy (AGNEW), David A., and Brant McKEE. This abandoned cemetery also contains the grave of "Reubin STROUP, Son of J. & M. STROUP, died Dec. 14, 1853, age 16 yr & 5 da."
There is a very lengthy discussion concerning the possible parents, etc. of this young man. Compiler at first assumed that Reubin was probably a brother to Sarah (STRAUP) McKEE, but the birth date given for Sarah and an 1814 birthdate for "Martha" STROUB, who is thought to be the mother of Reubin, are only 7 years apart. Obviously, Martha could not have been the mother of both Reubin and Sarah. The two women could have been sisters-in-law...Sarah's brother (possibly Joseph STROUP who was in Shelby Co., IN in 1840) having been Martha's first husband.
Per the information given in this reprint, Martha was married at least three times, and had a son named Silas V./M. STROUB who wasevidently born about 1847. In 1860 Martha was residing in Wayne Twp. in Fulton Co. with her third husband, Samuel STUBBS, his four children and Martha's three children - Silas "M." STROUB (age 14, Albert A. STROUB (age 11) and Mary GILL (age 7, who was the daughter of Martha and her second husband, Spencer GILL.)
"Silas M. STROUP" was a veteran of the Civil War ("...Pvt. Co. A. 155 Regt Ind.). There is also a listing in "Guardianship Index, Fulton Co., IN", which indicates that guardianship papers were filed Apr. 5, 1855, for Silas STROBE; final report date 19 Apr. 1866. There appears to be considerable confusion in identifying this family and its members.
Compiler suspects that the Reubin STROUSS who appears in the McKEE household in 1850 was in some way related to Sarah (STRAUP) McKEE, and that the Reubin STROUP who is buried in the McKEE Cemetery is the same person as STROUSS.
There is also a grave marker for "(-----), Olive M., dau. of ------" located in this cemetery. The explanation given in the photocopy record is that the top part of the marker was all that was found. The surname and the name(s) of the parent(s) were not readable. The marker appeared to be "a child-type marker with a lamb carved in the top." This may have been a child of Sarah A. (STRAUP) and David A. McKEE; it may also have been a daughter of Anthony and Nancy (AGNEW) McKEE, and a sister to David.

Mary A. McKEE was the daughter of Anthony and Nancy (AGNEW) McKEE who were among the early settlers of Shelby Co., IN. Ref #3,(Peatie, 1896) also states that Mary's father was a soldier in the Western Dep't of the U.S. during the War of 1812.
Mary and her husband James KEELY moved from Shelby Co., IN to Indianapolis (Marion) in about 1843. They then located in Fulton Co. about 1852. James preceded Mary in death by less than one year. Their oldest son, Samuel, was appointed administrator for the probating of their estate.
Phoebe (KEELY) GILCHRIST was the fifth of the KEELY's 10 children.
The daughter named "Emmaline Agnes" apparently died in infancy. She was 3 years old on the 1860 census but does not appear again. Probate records and Peaties "History" both list Nancy, widow of Thomas McANALLY, as one of the survivors of James and Mary (KEELY) McKEE.
James KEELY's obituary states that this couple lost 3 children to death "in infancy." The other children, who are listed in the obituary, as well as in the county and family histories, appear in the records of this genealogy.

The following is quoted from the obituary of James KEELY, "The Rochester Sentinel, 1892" taken from "Newspaper Excerpts" p 31, Fulton Co. Public Library, Rochester, IN.
"Wednesday, January 6, 1892
James KEELY was born in Butler County, O., Aug. 12, 1812. He moved to Shelby County, INDIANA, in 1822 and located on Blue River where he continued to reside until 1844 when he moved to Indianapolis. He was married to Mary McKEE in 1835 and they are the parents of thirteen children, three of whom died in infancy, and one, Catherine COLLINS, after reaching the age of fifty years. Those now living are Samuel KEELY, Nancy McANALLY, Mary J. AULT, Sarah AULT, Phoebe GILCHRIST, Caroline STUBBS, Julia A. CARR, Francis BRUGH and Anthony KEELY.
Mr. KEELY moved with his family to Fulton County in August, 1853 and located on a farm west of town. He was a brick mason by trade and in order that he might better follow his profession he came to Rochester in 18-9 (1869 or 89??) where he continued to reside until the angel of death called him to a higher life Wednesday evening Dec. 30, 1891. The aged wife who was his companion for more than a half century still survives.
Father KEELY united with the Methodist church in 1832 and remained a consistent member until death. He was a loyal friend, an honest citizen, a genial companion and a devoted christian always active in the work of his Master, and he gladly heard the summons 'Well done, thou good and faithful servant; thou hast been faithful over a few things,--will make the ruler over many things; enter thou into the joys of the Lord.'
The remains were laid at rest in the Citizens cemetery at noon Sunday."
